No need to buy expensive ultrasonic cleaning machine, jewerlry cleaning solution or treated jewelry cleaning cloth. Most slightly tarnished silver, gold and plated jewelries can be cleaned and polished to a shine using regular toothpaste, simply squeeze out a bit of toothpaste and gently rub it on the metal surface, use a small washcloth to rub it if needed, then rinse the metal with running tapwater.

Becareful not to drop the jewelry in the sink or it may fall into the sink hole, should plug it first before starting. Some toothpastes are too gritty, may scratch the matal surface, avoid the type of toothpaste with harsh particles.

If the tarnish is heavy on the metal, toothpaste may not be able to clean it, try use regular glass window cleaning spray or soultion that contains small percentage of ammonia which is the same chemical used in professional jewelry cleaning solution. 

Dip the jewelry in the glass cleaning soultion, or spray on it, after few seconds, rinse with tapwater, may have to repeat or wait longer time before rinsing.

Make sure the container used for dipping is not used for food or drink. Rinse the jewelry and container well. Wear rubber glove or wash hands throughoutly after touching solution. Ammonia is harmful to skin and body, avoid breathing it.
