These devices are useful and look really great! They make them in plastic, but I had to pay extra for the metallic shell. In the past I have bought some had caps which could easily be lost. I found one with 8 Gig memory and put it on my key chain. The retractable connector is something I wanted. Just plugged it in and within minutes it was ready to copy data to it. The device wants to install software onto your computer, but you can opt out. It comes with something called U3 which is basically spyware. As near as I can tell it’s harmless I would prefer to have the U3 software come on a disc or be a free download and not be installed on the drive. As it is right now it is pre-installed and if you remove it you can not reinstall it. It is very easy to remove just download the remove program which can be freely and easily downloaded. Do not just delete the programs from the drive. Be sure to update U3 launch Pad if you want to use it. U3 currently has compatible issues with Windows Vista and does not work on Mac or Lunix. U3 will be more useful when they get more programs. If you don’t like U3 you can use PortableApps, which is free. I like the idea of taking programs with me wherever I go but U3 and PortableApps need to add more programs. If you are unsure whether you want U3 or not just leave it on your drive an remove the programs installed to the launchpad. The launch pad doesn’t take a lot of room but the programs can.
