Ok, we all know the former Schrade cutlery products produced in New York were fine, fine knives. Sadly, as have so many other companies...Schrade closed its doors in the US . Unfortunately, the Schrade products being imported from Asia are , to put it mildly...JUNK. I bought a new Schrade UH171 just to see how it compared to my 20 year old, USA made UH171. There was NO comparison.
While I hate to bad-mouth any company...the Schrade products today are of very inferior materials: the blades are of pathetic grade steel, the handle material/guard/blade fit is of very poor workmanship, and the overall composition and cosmetics of the knife are poor indeed.
Sadly, even the leather sheath is an inferior grade of cheap, thin leather, with poor stitching and even poorer dye and hardware applications. What a sad, sad turn of events for Schrade fans.
