Tyrus Thomas LSU & NBA Tyrus Thomas Jersey
Tyrus Thomas, a favorite top pick for the 2006 NBA draft, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on August 17, 1986 and played basketball for McKinley Senior High School. Nicknamed "T-Time," he is currently a freshman at Louisiana State University, where he plays power forward for the Tigers. Thomas weighs in at 215 pounds and is six-foot-nine-inches tall. During his first season at LSU (2004-2005), Thomas was given a medical redshirt due to a neck injury he suffered in pre-season, but the next year he came back strong.
Many basketball experts expect Thomas to have a very bright future playing in the NBA. He has already won the 2006 NCAA Atlanta Region MVP, 2006 SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, 2006 SEC Freshman of the Year, 2006 Freshman of the week, and played on the Freshman All-America Team and the All-SEC Freshman Team.
Thomas's fans point to his amazing jumping capabilities and his terrific blocking abilities. He is considered a powerful dunker and an excellent rebounder. After a very strong showing in the 2006 NCAA Tournament, he greatly impressed the NBA scouts and as of May 12, 2006 held the number one position in the NBA Mock Draft. In April of 2006, Thomas announced that he would enter the NBA draft, resigning from college basketball.
Throughout his time at LSU, Thomas's jersey was number twelve, the same number he had during junior high school. When Thomas does join the NBA, his jersey is likely to become a popular one with old fans as well as new ones.
