Here we introducing 2 easy ways to DIY the PCB by fans.
The most important work is how to cover the copper by the
requirement of circuit on the copper clad board, then etch off the
unwanted copper.
- Step 1: Prepare board
Cut the copper clad board to the size that you designed and clean it.(Order Copper Clad Board ) - Step 2: Apply resist
Cover the copper where required by the circuit, here we introduce two method:
- Heat Toner Transfer Method (for track width >0.5mm)
- Print POSITIVE MIRROR artwork on the shinny side of toner transfer paper.(Order Toner Transfer Paper )
- Place printed artwork face down onto clean copper board, Iron(Clothes Iron, no steam) transfer paper that will transfer the toner on paper to PCB.
- Photoresist Film Method (for track width >0.2mm)
- Print NEGATIVE MIRROR artwork on clear/semi-clear Polyester Film.
- Cut the Photoresist Film to that size little bit larger than board.(Order Photoresist Film )
- Peel off any one side of release layer on film and apply film onto board, make sure the film contact the board seemless.
- Place the artwork over resist and expose to UV light source, amount of time to expose depends on type of light used and intensity.
- Remove the clear release layer on the film, develop board in a mixture of around 1 cup warm water to 1/2 teaspoon developer (~1% by weight).(Order Developer )
- Heat Toner Transfer Method (for track width >0.5mm)
- Step 3: Etch Board.
You can etch these two method made PCB using Ferric Chloride or Other PCB Etchant
