Twelfth St. By Cynthia Vincent- A Guide to Twelfth St. By Cynthia Vincent & Fashion
When Cynthia Vincent creates clothes for her fashion line Twelfth Street, the qualities she wants to incorporate are femininity, confidence, stylishness, and, most importantly, originality. She burst onto the scene in Los Angeles in 2003 and has garnered an incredible amount of press ever since. She's also attracted a celebrity following that includes such closely watched fashion icons as Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez.
In 2005, Cynthia Vincent expanded the Twelfth Street line to include women's shoes. The shoe collection excels at eye-catching high heels (that she swears are comfortable enough to wear all day). The shoe collection also includes flats, African inspired sandals, and secretary pumps.
Vincent's clothes and shoes are made for the woman who wants to feel sexy (as in a hot pair of cigarette pants), but who wants to be comfortable at the same time. Placing a premium as she does on originality, Vincent also looks for inspiration outside the mainstream, which led her to design a colorful array of clothes and shoes with a definite African influence. Vincent does draw on more conventional sources of inspiration for items like simple, classic cropped jackets, short sleeve dresses, and camisole tops. Some of her items also come with matching, hand-crafted belts included.
A California native, Vincent knew she wanted to be a part of the fashion world since she was six years old. It's fitting that her big break came in Los Angeles, when at a buyer at the famed LA boutique Fred Segal took a chance on one of her skirts. It sold out in a weekend, and the rest is fashion history.
