There are two main brands of tax software products. TurboTax and TaxCut. Intuit manufactures TurboTax products and H & R Block owns TaxCut programs.

TurboTax software programs are geared to those who have little knowledge about taxation and accounting. People normally tend to choose TurboTax over TaxCut.

Because of their ease of use, more people use TurboTax products than TaxCut counterparts.

TaxCut products are geared toward to those who have some or more knowledge of taxation and accounting. If you know more about taxation and like to fine-tune your tax filing, you may prefer TaxCut.

In addition, TaxCut products are less expensive than TurboTax products.
