Miss Part 1?  Alot more stuff here:  Tube Cube Attemuator Part 1

Hello there- A buddy of mine purchased one of these and told me it's the
>greatest investment he's ever made. So now I'm wanting to purchase one too
>(of course), but I had some questions if you don't mind...
>1. Does this >over-color/distort your tone/sound?

** The Cube is designed to pass through the signal, exactly as it receives it from the amp only smaller.  That being said there are a number of things to consider regarding tonality, and many of them are listed in my guide on tonality here:   http://reviews.ebay.com/Tube-Amp-Attenuator-Tube-Cube-Part-1_W0QQugidZ10000000004040239

>2. I play through an Ampeg V-4 head
>that has a 3-way switch between 2, 4, and 8 ohms (I use it on 2, with two
>re-wired 4 ohm Ampeg cabinets).

**Recommend setting the Cube on 8, the Ampeg on 8 and plugging in whatever you want speakerwise to the Cube regardless of Impedance.  You can run 2, 3, or 4 cabs daisy chained together if you want...the Cube must match the amp...forget the speaker loads completely, they no longer matter when the Cube is in the circuit, some people even run their amps into the cube with NO speakers connected.   Why you ask?...well, one of my models (Pro160) has a line out, and they can send this signal to their mixer, digital recorder, computer sound card...etc.

I cant stand my tone changing every time I
>turn up or down my head- do you think this will work alright for me/my setup?

**Yep sure will, set the head on whatever volume gives you the tone you like, then adjust the Cube for the volume you need..from bedroom to stage.

>Look forward to hearing from you, and thanks again! :)
**anytime, give me another email if you have further questions or need clarifications..

>Well I received my tube cube on Thursday.  Wasn't able to give it a test run until Friday.  I put it in between my Soldano Avenger and an Emperor 2 x 12.  and man does this thing sound great.  Works exactly as advertised.  I gigged it Last night.  got a lot of compliments on my tone.  Can't wait to do some recording with it.  Thanks man.  I got your card ill definitely be passing your info to anyone interested in one.

I just want to thank you for everything especially the ..<redacted>  .I had no probem with them at all and I appreciate a lot . The "cube" works perfectly with my monster AMPEG vt22 job !and not expensive . Great Congratulations!... Bestt regards Dom

From a repeat customer...  :-)
Hi Jim Thanks for your mail. This is my second one - the first one is permanently on my Marshall JCM900 and I need another for my Fender amp. It is an amazing little device - my friend said - oh, it'll be really hot - but it's not even warm! It really brings out the character of the amp, just so much nicer to play. Thanks again for your excellent product and service. Kind regards, Ken

Q: Hi I'm looking at this from a different angle, tell me if I'd be ok or  if this would not be what I need.
I want to take an 8 Ohm Powered 1/4 Phono which is destined for a speaker,
instead I want to convert it into an undistorted Line In Signal I can feed to a mono transmitter. Is this device correct or am I off base?
A: Hi,
This has to be a first..
I think it would work fine.
The line out is a fixed output value (30db reduction) , in other words, if you increase the input signal from the powered phono, the line out increases also.
Stay out of distortion range on the phono input and the low signal will be clean too.
As long as your transmitter will accept a line level signal (approx 1 to 3 volts, 1kohm impedance) in the 20-20k frequency range, it should work fine.  You can also feed the line-out to a small mixer, tape recorder, a 2nd amplifier, computer speakers, or about anything else that will take a line level signal.
Regards
Jim
