I want to share my latest putter testing. I have recently tried:
Odyssey Black Series: Blade and Mallet / Heavy Putter: Blade and Mallet / Ben Hogan Hawk / Scotty Cameron Studio Style 2 / YES! Golf (two styles).
The Cameron putters are very nice, but I believe you are paying for the name. The YES! golf putter that was the same style as the Cameron was almost identical at address and feel, and half the price. The new Odyssey Black Series putters are awesome, but so are the Odyssey White Hot series putters that are half the price. The Heavy putters are extremely heavy, which I happen to like, and the Hogan Hawk was pleasing to the eye, nice sound, and extremely light.
Let me tell you what I learned. I did try the straight center shaft on a few of these putters. I've never tried that style putter before because I think they look funny. But since trying them I have change from a more tradition style to the straight center shaft. I recommend you try all styles of putters, even if it looks funny, you may be surprised.
One other thing I learned was...higher priced putters don't mean they are better for you. PUTTING IS COMPLETELY BY FEEL, LOOK, AND SOUND, NOT PRICE. I tried the Cameron and Odyssey Black Series putters because of the price and story behind them. I found they where no better (for me) than the cheaper putters. Of all these putters tried, I kept two of them; the Heavy Putter Blade and the Hogan Hawk.
One more recomendation....don't change your putting style with different putters. Use your established style and feel, just change the putter.
I hope this helps some.
Brian
