What really bugs me about some watches being set up for sale on Ebay is that the seller does not reveal that the watch is made in China. Stauer, Steinhausen and all the others with fancy German and French names like Picard et Cie are all made in China. They tell you how they test them on Swiss equipment and build them on Swiss equipment but it seems to me that fine watchmaking is not one of China's biggest advances in technology. If it was, they'd be yelling "Made in China" or "Chinese Made" from the rooftops. Like the old days when things made in Japan were not highly regarded. Now, of course, names like Seiko, Citizen and others are high up on the desirable list. Maybe not as high up as Swiss made or legitimate German made timepieces, the Rolexes, Vacherons, Swiss Army's or A. Langes, but they do a good job. People trust the name Seiko as they trust the name Sony or Toyota. Tell me the brand made in China that you trust without the wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
