We all know that not every thing we read on Ebay is truthful. Let me relate a personal experience.
Another seller sells similar merchandise to mine. She says all her books are hand signed by the author. This is very likely true. He is a small author and his books are hard to find. She further claims erroneous knowledge she took from my listings. The knowledge being that the author met the famous historical writer Rose Wilder Lane. She took this information directly from old listings of mine which she frequently copies. My error which I read in a book has been corrected since. She even claims a familiarity with the author William Anderson..She even uses a nick name for him. Saying in her ads and even her guides that Bill told her he met Rose.
This information is a little strange since Rose died in 1968. Anyone can see that the writer is not an old man. The truth being he wrote her and she wrote him back when he was a child. He saved the letters because even in childhood Mr. Anderson was interested in the Ingalls family.
A friend of mine located the authors email address. She contacted the author who also teaches school. She forwarded his letter to me. He had never met this famous person. I also contacted the author William Anderson. He told me I never met Mrs. Lane but have several letters of hers in my possession. From then on I had the correct information. He would never refer to Rose Wilder Lane as Rose. When ever I sold a book Mr. Anderson wrote about the Ingalls I would relay this information exactly as it was told to me. The other seller has no special relationship with Mr. Anderson. She merely buys books and pretends to be an intimate friend of his.
She repeatedly warns in her ads and guides not to buy from other sellers as they might have a sticker on the front which reduces it's future value. This is nonsense. These are small books for the most part and very worth having. If a sticker mark were on any book I sell I would certainly mention it in my ad.
Any good seller will tell you in an ad if there is a mark of any kind on a book. A good seller will not pretend to be on intimate terms with the person who writes the books. A good seller will read the book for them selves and not copy another sellers description. and photos Untill recently this other seller had been stealing images from other sellers for 3 years that I am aware of.. She was finally disciplined by ebay and apparently warned. I know this because she emailed me and confessed to taking 5 images from me.
I sold books on Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family for years. I am taking a break as my health has declined. I do not sell books only by William Anderson but from a variety of authors who have written about the Ingalls family.
The other seller who sells this item weekly continues to relay false information. She relists it every week.
Be careful on Ebay. If a seller would lie about knowing an author she is probably lying about other things in her listings.
I have talked (through letters) to Mr. Anderson and I do not claim to know him as a personal friend. I will not tell a lie or steal an image from another seller to sell an item ever. Nor will I put other sellers merchandise down who chose to sell the same items I sell.
