PIECE OF JUNK!!!!

Bought this thing at Lowes about a year ago (it has been in some sort of repair mode for a month). Had trouble starting the thing right off. After it would run out of gas or just get used a while and die, it just didn't want to start. OK...maybe the nature of the unit.

Grin and bear it.

It went through the first spool of trimmer so fast I assumed it had not been full. I replaced the line with more (and the "quick load" system is yet another chapter in this story) and it ran out equally fast. Tried once more. Same result, I ran out of line almost before I could replace it. And mind you, since the "quick load" system was useless, I had to remove the spool every time and rewind it. No problem, I had to do that on my other units. Bought a new spool, problem solved. except for the "quick load" system. Oh well.

After a year of fighting this (most people would have been far less tolerant, one day, the unit just died and never would start again. Took it to a service center recommended by the TROYBUILT website who said he did and didn'thave a relationship with TROYBUILT and he frankly thought their stuff was junk! Oh..oh....On a whim, I returned the unit to LOWES (who have at this point been extremely helpful, more so than those a--holes at TROYBUILT). They sent the unit to a repair facility and I was informed that because the unit ran low on oil (not specified but I assume they mean I allowed it to do this), had low compression, and the repair cost exceeded the value ofthe unit...thank you very much for your $170.00 and go screw yourself!

Like another TROYBUILT review, all I get from them is a list of "repair facilities". And I know of at least two other folks who have had similar problems. One returned his and bought a Stihl, the other has let his warranty run out and is SOL.

While this piece of crap was in the shop, I bought an ECHO and guess what!!??...absolutely perfect! It starts every time, even after refilling the gas tank, the string system works without flaw, and the "quick load" system works as advertised!!!! And by God, after three, up to, 2 hr uses, it HAS NOT RUN LOW ON OIL! For any reason.

Bottom line....TROYBUILT SUCKS!!!!!
