If you're serious about showing in Hunter/Jumpers and want to look good, here's a guide to help you. There are certain brands, colours, and styles that will help you look the part in the show ring.
For breeches, Tailored Sportsman is a staple. Ariat also makes wonderfull breeches at an affordable price.
The best makers of show coats are Tailored Sportsman, Grand Prix, RJ Classics and Marigold. The most fashionable patterns and colours are navy, with a windowpane or herringbone pattern; tan, in windowpane; or gray in a windowpane pattern. Of course, there are many other colours and combinations. However some not-so-popular colours are green, black, and most any coat with pinstripes.
Show shirts come in all colours to match coats, stripes, solids, and pattens. Anything that matches your coats is usually fine and up to trend, however the shirt should usually be lighter than the jacket if it is navy or a dark colour. For tan coats, one usually tries to match the shirt to the windowpane colour, such as light blue.
The most popular helmets right now on the show circuit are GPA's or Charles Owen's. Since GPA's are expensive, there are also the more affordable IRH's and ATH's.
For feild, or tall, boots the most popular makers are Ariat, Vogel, and Beval. For shows, boots should have a high cut or "Spanish" top and "Swagger tab".
