Trek Bike Racing Bicycle Buying Equipment Guide

When you think about one brand of bike that stands out above the rest when you talk about racing road bikes, Trek is a name that comes to mind.  Here's a guide to you select the right Trek racing bike.

Trek makes some of the most popular racing performance bikes available today and here's a short guide to their performance line for 2005!

Trek Madone

Why this is the best bike in the world..
The Madone is bike for the cyclist who wants to best possible performance and is willing to pay for it.  This is also the bike that Lance Armstrong rode in the Tour De France.  If you want to Livestrong, then this is the bike for you!  The frame is manufactured from Trek's unique OCLV carbon, which means that it is extremely lightweight, yet very stiff at the same time.  The Madone integrates design from Time trial bikes as well as from Trek's racing bikes so you know it's going to be fast.  However, since it's a very stiff frame you'll feel every bump in the road.

Trek Pilot

The Trek Pilot is less expensive than the Trek Madone..
The big difference between the Trek Madone and the Trek Pilot lies in the geometry of the frame.  The Trek Pilot enables the rider to sit more upright (versus being more bent over when riding the Madone) and as a result, you get less tired.  The Pilot is built with the same OCLV carbon fiber as the Madone, so it's still an incredibly light bike, but at about half the cost as the Madone, it's a relative steal!

Don't have the money for a Trek Madone or Trek Pilot but still need a hot bike?
The next type of bike in Trek's model line up is their ZR9000 series bikes, which includes the Trek 5200, Trek 5000, Trek 2200, Trek 2100.  The ZR9000 series is named as such because instead of having a full carbon frame, the frame is made out of ZR9000 aluminum with carbon seat posts and carbon forks.  Using aluminum vs. carbon helps with the cost but also makes the bike heavier.

Trek also makes Mountain bikes and road bikes for non-racers!
In addition to these great performance bikes, Trek also manufacturers great trek mountain bikes as well as bikes for the casual cyclist.  All of these bikes can be found on eBay at incredible deals - you won't be able to pass them up.
