Eye area puffiness, eye bags, and swollen eyelids are common beauty problems that make the afflicted appear tired, older than their real age, and haggardly. It's amazing how much younger and better looking one can look the moment their undereye puffiness, eye bags, and puffy eyelids tighten up. Most of the time this swollen eye area problem is caused by a water retention (lymphatic fluid retention) condition but for some people it could involve genetics and fat makeup.
To remove under eye bags and eye area puffiness, I have tried almost every available cream, lotion and eye gel, undergone expensive spa treatments, and prepared DIY at home remedies to no avail. Almost nothing seems to work cheaply, quickly and effectively, however fabulous the sales pitch appeared, and for the past decade I have been waiting for new technology to come out that would help me relieve this problem without resorting to the knife.
For eye area puffiness and lower undereye bags that relate to a fat problem, it's actually the most efficient and effective to go straight to cosmetic surgeons for relatively small surgical procedures that are fairly quick to heal from.
Invasive means include mesotherapy and fat removal, where a cosmetic surgeon will either inject fat dissolving substances to the precise area you wish to tighten and remove pudginess from, or perform surgical and physical removal of the fat pockets. I booked an appointment with a surgeon, but then weasled out of it because I was being a wimp to pain and also, I heal very poorly from wounds and tend to scar pretty badly.
Korean and Japanese cosmetics companies, picking up on the mesotherapy trend, (a trend I see as the next botox wave) have formulated products that contain fat dissolving substances encapsulated in nanospheres to penetrate skin barrier without patients having to go under the syringe. The effectiveness of this form of creams and gels is yet to be tested 100% but show somewhat promising results.
Non-invasive means would be aggressive lymphatic drainage massage for the eye area by ultrasound. This was actually one of the scarce and far-between methodologies that yielded very satisfactory results for myself, to my surprise. I have not mastered this technique myself but many high end spas in Asia offer this service as a "face tightening / face slimming treatment" where the spa technician uses an industry strength ultrasound, state of the art gel formulas, and highly- trained high pressure massage strokes that guide the trapped lymphatic fluid buildup (water retention in the area of puffiness) away from the eye area and into the lymph nodes below and behind the ears so that they could be naturally metabolized back into the central lymph system.
To go through with this procedure it is very expensive and takes multiple treatments to keep the results permanent.
Very recently cosmetic companies are starting to come out with new formulas that aim to tackle this problem. I've started to pick up what ingredients they're focusing on and researched into such ingredients to see the efficacy studies.
