Need a Translation?

Perhaps you've have a customer in Germany.  You would like to send the customer an email to thank them for their purchase.  But you don't speak German.  What to do?  Let Microsoft Word do all the work.  It's quick and easy.

When you use the Translation service, the Research task pane conveniently opens next to your document, where it's easy to use the dictionary or thesaurus, search the Web, or even get translation services without leaving your workspace.

Let's Get Started!

First you need to open a blank Microsoft Word document.

Type the information you would like to send to your customer.

How to open the Translation pane.

Click Language on the Tools menu.

In the Research pane, in the From, box click English (U.S.), and in the To box, click German (Germany). The result is displayed in the Research pane and tells you that "Thank you for your purchase" English (U.S.) translates to "Danke für Ihren Erwerb" in German (Germany).

Bilingual dictionaries on your computer and online translate single words or short phrases; machine translation on the Web can translate an entire document.

Tip:  The Research pane stores your searches, up to a maximum of 10, so that you can go back and retrieve the gems you already found. Just click the arrows on the Back button      and Forward button   .

I hope you find this guide helpful.  I decided to write this guide after a fellow blogger asked how to write an email to an international customer in their native language.

From experience, I have found the customer really appreciates your extra effort in communicating with them about their purchases.

Check out my other Guides.

Thank you!
