It is quite true. 

There are ALOT of K.O.s floating around Ebay.

G1 Optimus Prime, G1 Ratbat, G1 Dinobots, G1 Mirage, and MANY more.

Don't get scammed into purchasing these fake items from a bad seller working hard to lie and make a quick buck by stating in the auction that it is real. 

Don't trust yourself in these days of scalping for a dollar from a shady pic from a bad seller.

You must get informed to make a wise decision sometimes. Don't let a small picture fool you of the real thing. Don't let the boxes fool you as most times they are different than the actual G1 counterpart it is representing. 

Get good advice from people who, live, breathe, talk about these awesome toys we've all grown to love and collect.   

Come to TFW2005.com, and many others, and post your questions and a link to an auction you are interested in, if you have ANY reservations on an item you wish to buy, and the knowledgeable people on this forum who would LOVE to stop this insanity and many other's, will be more than glad to help you make a wise decision if you are ever in doubt.    

Don't jump to conclusions, we have seen wayyy too many people get ripped off in this hobby and we would like it to stop as a community. 

K.O.s in general are good for the public, IF they are labeled as such in the auction, and noone is being mislead. Its a good alternative if you would like to relive the days of old, but noone would like to be suckered into a fake when a seller misrepresents the item as real and your wallet is crying afterwards.
