Please Note...these track gauge measurements __ do not __ define or identify 'scale' sizing.
For those model railroad buffs, truly into sizing of scale and gauge, it can become a pretty refined and defined issue.
This guide is a rough outline to the track gauge...other definitions and refinements will come in another guide.
Terms....Scale and Gauge mean two different things...
Gauge --- the measurement between the rails on the tracks.
Scale --- defines the scaled-down or proportion of the model railroad car to the real train.
HO Gauge
Measurement: .65 inch wide track...inside rail to inside rail.
Standard Gauge
Measurement: 2.25 inches wide track
Background: earliest of train track...World War I to the 1930s, Lionel, Ives,
G Gauge
Measurement: 1.77 inches wide track
O 027 Gauge
Measurement: 1.25 inches wide track
S Gauge
Measurement: .87 inch wide track
N Gauge
Measurement: .35 inch wide track
