I first got to hear and read about HCO ScoutGuard Trail Cam in early March 2008 on the very well recognized Trail Cam Review website at Chasingame.
I didn't follow the review for too long before I decided to purchase one and try it out for myself - until this day I feel blessed to have bought this little gem! IR non-flash digital, the smallest trail cam available on market - smaller than a dollar bill - hard to imagine until you hold it in your hand, short trigger time (1.2sec); 5MP real resolution with no digital interpolation, long battery life (a set of 4 or 8 AA batteries), water and weather proof, clear daytime color and nighttime b&w pictures and awesome videos! Did I mention that it has an innovative remote control that comes with it - it looks like an iPod and has different settings, after playing with the default setting, within minutes, an old schooler like me actually mastered all the settings without reading the User's Manual - not a fun of technical books myself. If the remote is not attached, the little cam will work with the default setting a few seconds after it's powered on. So you can setup your camera and leave your remote or carry it in pocket and go to the field to mount your little cam and power it on and simply walk away to come back in days or weeks to check what's on it. You'll love what it's caught for ya!

HCO ScoutGuard Trail Camera has been available on market since March 2008, with retail price $200 for dark green and $210 for camo. The camo is absolutely sexy, and personally I'd pay for the extra bucks unless you love to toy with your custom-made camo work at home. I did a 3-Dimentional tree bulk like camo that I love to this day, and I wish one day HCO would offer that to the market, but who knows, haha!

Many online and local stores carry this HCO ScoutGuard Trail Camera with accessories like SD memory card, security box, python lock, bracket, power cable, and more. HCO HuntingCamOnline website has a list of their authorized dealers, but I don't believe that's a full list because as an ebay seller myself, I don't see how it's feasible to be placed there on their website. But you can still verify whether or not I'm authorized and licensed by emailing HCO prior to your purchase, or checking if your camera has HCO serial# (especially for Warranty purpose) and if your game picture shows "HCO ScoutGuard" in the lower left corner.

Well, this little cam is not perfect - I wish it had more balanced color in the still pictures and had audio - did I mention that it takes awesome videos?

With all being said, HCO has continuously solved some glitches in the early production batches and done good quality control and after-sale technical support and services to its customers. Did I mention that it has 1-year manufactuer warranty and that HCO takes care of repair or replacement within one week? Can't complain about that!
Did I tell you that I ditched all my other trail cams including my home brews - except for one Buckeye Apollo that almost emptied my pocket, lol! I loved HCO ScoutGuard trail cam so much that I later on became an authorized dealer to carry this product. Almost a year has passed by and now I've become more convinced that HCO has always stood behind its products and services - you wouldn't go wrong with this company!
I actually think the testimonials that HCO chose to put on its website hasn't covered a portion of all the the good that I wanted to say. And did you see its comparisons with other trail cameras like Moultrie, Cuddeback, Stealth, Homebrew and others that are quoted on HCO website? You gotta check them out, a lot of fun to read!
This camera is so tiny that many people are using it for security, anti theft, law enforcement and surveillance!

Again, don't forget to take a peek at HCO SG550's comparisons with CuddeBack, Bushnell, Predator, Moultrie and Homebrew on HCO's website - all comments were from customers who own or owned these deer game cameras. I enjoyed reading that!
