How do I track my favorite Ebay blogs?
Can I get updates when my favorite Ebayers post a new blog entry?
There are some wonderful people blogging on Ebay with lots of interesting, informative, and just plain fun stuff to say. My problem was that I would find an interesting post from the Ebay Blogs front page (you know, that page where you see all the new blogs and posts), but I was lost when it came to finding that blogger again unless I happened across another of their new posts. So, I did a little research.
What fellow Ebayers suggested:
- add the blog page to your browser's bookmarks or favorites list
- write down the name of the blog and look it up using the Ebay Blogs Search Tool (note: be sure to change the search from "Posts" to "Members" in order for this method to work)
- use the orange RSS button on the left side of every blog
What is RSS? How on earth do I use it?
Unfortunately, Ebay wasn't much help here. There's a handy little link next to that RSS button that will give you a little more information, but it certainly didn't tell me how to use it.
So, since I went through the trouble of figuring it out and discovered an easy and convenient way to use this resource, I thought I would share my knowledge with others!
- Right-click on that cute little orange RSS button on the left side of the blog you want to remember.
- Choose "Copy Link Location."
- If you have a Yahoo Account, simply go to your MY Yahoo page (sorry, I can't post the link here since it is not an ebay website). If you don't have a Yahoo Account, it's very easy to sign up using the step-by-step instructions on Yahoo, and it's free.
- On your My Yahoo page, click the "Add Content" link found in the upper left corner of the page (below the search bar).
- On that next page, there will be a "Add RSS By URL" link just to the right of the big "FIND" button. Click that.
- Paste the URL that you copied earlier into the box provided (it's easiest to just right-click and choose paste or hit Ctrl-V) and click the "Add" button.
- You should get a confirmation page that the Blog has been added to your MY Yahoo news page with a link that will take you back to MY Yahoo.
- Now, chances are, it will automatically add your new RSS feed on the very bottom of the page causing you to scroll down if you actually want to read it. Just scroll down until you find it, click the "Edit" button in the top right corner, and choose to send it to the top (or wherever you want it).
Want to try it out?
Add my Ebay Blog to your MY Yahoo page.
