Top 10 Preventative & Curative Home Remedies
Recently I gave a presentation to a very large and engage group of individuals at the Palms of Largo Facilities here in Pinellas County. Each quarter, I present two various health & wellness related seminars for a large population of the Palms of Largo community, friends and neighbors. The past seminar was extremely well attended, we have over 100 individuals eagerly seeking knowledge and information about natural home remedies. The nature of my presentation was on the top 10 household remedies and how they can positively impact health & wellness. I'd like to share the list with you today.
1. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) - excellent source of nutrition, minerals and acid. Calms indigestion, arthritis, nail fungus, athletes food, swimmers ear and softens corns and calluses. Contains trace elements and minerals like magnesium and maganese.
Recommendation: Daily tonic:
2. Witch Hazel - wonderful astringent. Soothes vericose veins, relieves hemmarhoid pain, swollen hands and controls bleeding. Excellent throat gargle for treatment of laryngitis. Can be used in a tea to treat IBS and Colitis. Contains flavonoids than minimize swelling and free radical damage. Can be used external and internal.
Recommendation: IBS Tea - 1 tbsp witch hazel in hot tea of camomile, mint and thyme.
3. Aloe Vera - A chryscophanic Acid that is excellent for wound healing and pain relief. Commonly used for relief of sunburns, boils and burns. Also a treatment for cancer - many vets are using aloe vera for leukemia in animals and various blood diseases. Treats eczema, acne, danduff and swollen, inflamed gums. Also works to heal intestines from ulcers, polyps, sores and IBS conditions.
4. Toothpaste- excellent remedy for acne as well as minor pains associated wth oral herpes, soothes bug bites and bee stings and stops the itch from insect bites.
5. Baking Soda- Bicarbonate of Soda is a great natural remedy for heartburn, acid indigestion and a sour stomach. It's a much better option than antacids which completely stop digestion in the stomach. It has alkalising properties that are great for skin care: sunburns, hives, insect bites, and when added to shampoo creates shiny hair.
Recommendation: Natural Treatment for Gout: 1/2 tsp. in 1/2 cup water at night - makes uric acid more soluble at night and relieves inflammation and tightness in skin.
6. Epsom Salts - loaded with magnesium, increases blood circulation and accelerates healing by 1/3rd!! Cures athletes foot, soothes aches and muscle pain, works as a laxative when ingested and helps the body absorb key nutrients, and improves physical stamina. Is a stress reliiever -- literally creates happy feelings in the body because the magnesium binds with seratonin and lowers cortisol/stress levels. When added to conditioner adds natural hair glow.
7. Yogurt- Reduces yeast infections, kills fungus on skin (toenails). When applied on the lips it heals canker sores (apply 4 times daily and eat 1/4 cup daily). Replenishes good bacteria in the body and on the skin. Can be applied topically on a yeast infection and works as a great mask.
8. Onions - helps prevent osteoporosis by reducing bone mass reduction. Research shows when one eats 2oz of onions daily, blood sugars greatly decrease. Contains sulfur which helps prevent acne. Before washing face at night, cut up 1/2 onion and smear on the skin. Works as an anti-inflammatory substance that relieves pain and swelling from arthritis and bug bites.
9. Castor Oil- Best known for stimulating the liver. Relievs pain and improves digestion. Minimizes inflammation of the gallbladder. Softens chapped lips and corns.
Recommendation: Apply topically. Castor Oil Pack on skin improves circulation and targets organs.
10. Papaya-Contains enzymes -Papain- improves digestion and research shows it heals cancer. When applied on skin- lightens skin and improves glow and reduces freckles. Reduces risk of heart related ailments.
