To install a Digital readout (DRO) and linear scales on the Super X3?

Ausrüstung einer Fräsmaschine ~ B&R X3 Super ~ mit Präzisions-Glasmaßstäben

We all know that digital readout system are useful - output quality will be improved and more consistent thus cutting down rework and wastage. The Super X3 mill is make in China and it is a good machine.

If you have a Super X3 and would like to install a digital readout system, then read on. It is not difficult and any one should be able to do it. Installing the display console box is the easy part of the task.

Die gewählte Art der Befestigung in den drei Achsen zeigen die folgenden Bilder.

Die Befestigungsteile bestehen aus Al-Mg-Si Flachmaterial der Abmessungen
35 x 5mm, 80 x 5mm, 20 x 10mm, 25 x 10mm und 35 x 10mm.
Die Maße können dem Zeichnungssatz entnommen werden. Zur Montage der
Glasmaßstäbe sind insgesamt 11 Gewindebohrungen M6 an Schlitten und

 [I use aluminium flat bar to make the mounting brackets and backplates: 35 x 5mm, 80 x 5mm, 20 x 10mm, 25 x 10mm und 35 x 10mm.  To mount the scales, altogether 11 size M6 tapped holes are required. Reference to the linear scale specifications to get the distance between mounting holes.

Führungen anzubringen. Für die Anfertigung der Befestigungsbohrungen des
y-Maßstabs ist der Oberschlitten abzunehmen. Montage, Justage und
Demontage der Glasmeßstäbe ist in jedem Fall auch bei montiertem
Oberschlitten möglich.

To mount the Y-axis, I had to dismantle the mill table. You could also mount the scale without dismantling the mill table.

Der Abstand zwischen Lineal und Meßschlitten wird bei der Justage auf
1,3mm eingestellt.

I maintain a distance of 1.3 mm between the reader head and the aluminum housing.

Die Stromversorgung erfolgt zusammen mit der Stromversorgung des
Vortriebmotors in der x-Achse über eine Klemmleiste, die durch eine
dreiadrige Leitung mit dem Hauptschalter der Maschine und Masse
verbunden ist.

For the power supply, I connected power cord to the engine which is connected to the main the Super X3.
