In the world of color cosmetics, mineral makeup has taken its stance as the new and innovative type of makeup. There was a time when you had only a few options ~ most particularly Bare Escentuals, Jane Iredale, LaBella Donna.  Within the last year or so Lezza Gibbons signed her name to Sheer Cover and Lauren Hutton to her own brand name .  Most recently Neutrogena, Loreal, Revlon, Physician's Formula and Maybelline added their version of mineral cosmetics to the mass market hitting the drugstore circuit.  Everyone and their brother wants a part of this cosmetic revolution.  And for good reason!

There are many great choices when choosing a mineral makeup line ~ many of which are superior in quality and performance and for the most part far less expensive than the queen of them all,  Bare Escentuals (BE).   Each company has its own set of standards and points of difference helping you to decide what is best for you and your lifestyle.

Some mineral makeup lines advertise themselves are "pure" "organic" "non-irritating" "bismuth free"  "SPF 15" etc. to grab your attention.  It's very important for you to know there may or may not be truth behind these claims.  For example,  a "bismuth-free" mineral makeup line clearly defines one of the most widely used cosmetic ingredients in just about all cosmetics and some skincare lines, Bismuth Oxychloride, as a nasty, toxic, irritating, pore clogging  ingredient.  This is simply untrue.  It's true that some people may be sensitive to it.  Bismuth oxychloride is a soft powder used in cosmetics to impart a "pearlescent" appearance. It provides excellent whiteness, brightness and a smooth texture. Bismuth is found in the earth's crust and is non-toxic. On another note, claims of SPF must be supported by scientific documentation.

There are a few key reasons to make the switch from traditional liquid, cream, powder foundations to a mineral foundation.  First and foremost, (most) mineral makeup is good for your skin!  You will experience an instant radiant youthful glow that is simply impossible to achieve with traditional makeup.. However, beware of additives that are toxic to your skin!  Brands that add presevatives, fragrance, artifical colors and ingredients defeat the purpose of using mineral makeup!

Enjoy the true benefits of mineral makeup ~ find your true radiance!
