You have only to look around to see the importance of branding. It is literally everywhere. You may be wearing it, eating it, and seeing it without giving it a second thought. Product branding is everywhere. There is no escaping it. So how do you brand yourself in this world of brands?

What is branding? It is giving added value to the customer that is identifiable or not. It provides the link between the physiological and physical needs of the customer to the product or service offered. It creates a symbol that the customer can identify with in a specific way and provides a distinguishable difference that separates your product or service from all the other competitors' products or services.

Starting today, you have a chance to create a distinctive role for your self to develop your own style of providing therapeutic massage services and to create a message and a strategy to promote your individual brand.

Creating Your Brand

Creating your own distinctive service that separates you from your competition is more than your own unique style of providing therapeutic massage services. It includes careful evaluation of your product, pricing, promotion, and placement. These are the principle elements of marketing, commonly referred to as the "4 P's" or marketing mix. However, it also includes the special consideration of people, process, physical evidence, packaging, and philosophy - the expanded marketing mix.

How do you know that you are different from your competition? You must thoroughly research your competition. What services do they offer? What is unique about them? How do they advertise to gain customers? How do the customers respond to their services and advertising efforts?

Creating Customers

You can create customers by knowing first whom will benefit the most from what you offer and how you meet their needs and wants in terms of your product. Identify your primary target market. Know who they are. What are their needs, concerns, and goals in life? Where do they live? How do they believe? When do they shop for products such as yours?

Researching your primary target market can take considerable amount of time; however, the rewards of directing your limited resources and funds towards your primary customers will make it well worth the effort.
