The purpose of this guide is to give parents a few tips on helping their children excel in school. I use all of these tips as a stay-at-home mother of three children. Children are truly our future, and we as parents should help them to excel in their studies and be productive citizens.
1. Always keep in touch with teachers by regular visits, emails, or phone calls.
2. Always set a time of the day to do homework. Put a timer on the table lets say for 30 min. Then take a 15 min break for a snack, then continue working for another 30 minutes.
3. Always try to be available to help with homework questions.
4. Find out if you child's school has a homework club or tutoring services.
5. Reward your child with special treats or going out to celebrate getting a good grade on a big test or a big project.
6. If you are able to, volunteer at your child's school.
7. There are all types of educational websites on the internet that helps also (eg. tutorials)
8. Visit a store that caters to teachers that sell educational items.
9. Take your child to the zoo and museums to get them interested in science/history.
10. Most importantly, read to your child. I read to my children from the time they were born, and they ended up being early readers.
