Buyer beware...That H-910 you are so excited about might be in wonderful condition and the price seems right. The seller says "sold as is" and "unit powers on"  no further testing etc...This could be a problem for you if you proceed any further. Eventide Clockworks produced some of the most interesting products in the audio world. The sounds produced by some of these products are revered by many, myself included. I have several. However, obsolescence and Father Time have done their job very well. I have learned some hard lessons regarding these fine boat anchors and thought I would share some insight that may assist you in some way

Here is why:   

 (1)     Many of these units are wholesale items bought in lots from other auctions and therefore are sold without any knowledge by the seller of what they are, let alone if they even work at all. The seller(s) might search Ebay for some info and decide its value based on past auction totals. Most of these individuals mean well and are trying to make a buck like the rest of us. I mean, Ebay is a noble enterprise, right? You can usually spot a dubious sale if you pay attention. Unfortunately, some have been sold by individuals who were trying to get their money back after they bought one and found out it was DOA. Know before you pay for it

(2)      The Eventide Clockworks Harmonizers, DDL's, Flangers and Phasors were never designed with abuse in mind, such as touring and gigging. Many of them were used in this manner and being the delicate devils that they are can haunt you because of this. It is preferable to purchase known working units that were housed in a professional recording studio. It is even better if it can be verified that the unit in question wasn't left powered up for 20 years like so many studios did. This practice probably did more to kill the chips than anything else. R.I.P!

(3)     Most importantly! Try finding parts or a technician who knows how to repair them. Eventide themselves will tell you that they don't even remember how. It is most important to find out from the seller if the unit(s) is Functioning properly. If they cannot provide this information, I advise to pass on the auction entirely. If you know what you are doing then go ahead and throw your duckets down...hey, it will make a nice doorstop! And if you are like me, parts is parts.

I love Eventide stuff, even their noise sounds cool. Just do yourself a favor and use some common sense when buying these items. If you are not sure what you are doing then buy a software bundle...and you will never have to heat up your soldering iron, I promise you.
