I have been on Ebay for awhile, but didn’t become active until August 2006. Three months later, I was an Ebay Powerseller and it happened before I knew it. This guide is to show how anyone can become an eBay Powerseller. I'm a homeschooling mother to my 3 kids & no outside job can compare to how good I sell on Ebay. The first thing you must think is, you sell to the world, so, you should sell a variety of items. You literally cut your customer base by more than half when you choose to sell 1 kind of item. Selling a variety guarantees that a variety of people will look at your items. Example, a buyer sees that you have a sz 10 sweater for sale. They came to purchase a sweater, but they see that you have pants in the size they need also at a deal. You now have two sales instead of one. If you only sold sweaters, you would only have had one sale.
If you like to yard sale or go to auctions, you have this step already under control. Yard sales and auctions are the best places to do this. Go to these sales with lots of small bills (money) and separate in your wallet. Never keep all your bills together in big bunches. People basically won’t cut a price if they see that you have alot of money on you. Always remember, the cheaper you get something for, the more profit you make on resale. TIP: Search items that you more than likely will come across at an auction or sale you are headed to on eBay to see who it's selling. Search Vintage. Every yard sale or auction I have been to has a great vintage item cheap. Vintage is a fabulous seller on Ebay
Take at least 3 good photos of the item you are selling from all angles. The more photos you take, the better your item sells. Pictures are everything in sales. Look at how many items sell because of an ad in a magazine and the FAB pics of it. Enough said! Next, you need someone to host your templates and photos because eBay charges for every picture after the 1st. You get this money back a thousand times over by letting someone besides eBay host your pics. My fav. hosting site is Seller Source Book.
ALWAYS list you item in only 1 category. Noone (or atleast it's rare) ever looks in separate categories on Ebay. They usually type in what they are looking for and keep the category at "All Categories". Listing in multiple categories wastes money and benefits you none. Next, never waste space in the title part of the listing page. Don’t use words like "a", "the", "has", etc. Your title should only have key words that people would use to find your item. Key words are, "size", "new" and maker's name. Example: WOMEN’S NEW SWEATER THOMAS HILFIGHTER SIZE 10. As you can see, I always list my title in all or just about all capital letters. People tend to notice it better. I have seen some people blog or say stuff against doing this. I've noticed more sales when I do this. I also use every bit of space available to me in my titles. I’ll use L@@K or "!!!!" if I can’t think of another search word to put in the title. These are great eye catchers even if they are not search words.
When you have the perfect title, use the best photo of your item for the gallery picture. In your description list color, size, measurements, maker, if new, new with tags (NWT), if it’s a one of a kind (OOAK), new without tags (Nw/oT), also if you are a non smoking or non pet household. Now the price. You should look items up that are similar to your item. See how much that item is going for and how much they start at. This is where paying the least amount possible for an item comes in play. You feel comfortable listing your item low if you got it cheap. Let this become a selling tool. People tend not to let things that are cheap go off without a bid. Start low and encourage bids. It is in our nature to be competitive. Bids do encourage more bids.
Other tips:Vintage, Designer handbags, panties, slips, primitive OOAK dolls and such are great sellers. Children’s Custom Boutique and Showmanship / Horsemanship Jackets are BIG on Ebay. If you can sew, make custom kids clothing, showmmanship jackets or primitive dolls. They make you a lot of money !!! The best selling sizes in children’s is 4t, 6x, 10/12, plus size kids, 14 ½, 16 ½, 18 ½. Don’t buy off name brands to resell. They don’t sell good.
The key to all of this....When selling on eBay, you want the overall sale to have the most profit available to you. This makes you a powerseller not only on eBay, but to you and your Paypal account as well!!!
I hope this guide helps someone. Please leave your comments or advice. Maybe one day again, I will have the time to list like I use to.
