Selling on eBay has become a little bit like working to beat the clock,
without the benefit of knowing what time it is. There have been many changes in eBay over the years. None is more significant than the way eBay members now shop.
There seems to be more and more buyers pushing for fast delivery. You need only to check out today's fuel prices to know faster is going to cost you more. And yet, eBay encourages its sellers to list a product with free shipping. Shipping is never free. The cost of fast shipping is down right outrageous.
As a seller, I can shop for materials at wholesale supply store, on sale, and in bulk. All to save you money. But as hard as I've tried, I can't find a sale on shipping.
As long as shipping prices continue to increase, so will the price of products, everywhere.
eBay still offers its buyers some of the best prices available, anywhere.
The demand for faster or free shipping brings a variety of challenges for eBay sellers. If we list with free shipping, our eBay fees increase. The price of the product will most certainly reflect the extra expense. Faster may mean a decrease in the number of orders the seller can processed each week. Additional staffing, or overtime would also affect the price you pay. This is especially true of custom crafted products. Its basic supply and demand.
An eBay seller is more likely to discount the price of their products, if they don't have to rush the delivery on every product they sell. Those that offer custom crafted products, might consider working for less, if they have more time to get it done.
As an experienced seller, I offer this advise...give the sellers more time and the great prices that once flooded the listings in eBay, may vary likely find the opportunity to return.
