Tiffany Style Lighting
Cleaning Your Tiffany Glass:
Tiffany style glass is oiled after it is made, to save it's lustre and color. To clean your glass, use a dry paper towel. Do NOT use any type of chemical or soap, as this will dim the lustre and color. If by accident, someone does use a chemical or soap, try and re-oil the glass to bring the lustre and color back up.
Some Information:
It seems there is some question here on eBay as to what is real "Tiffany" lighting, and which is not. I will try and explain here.
Louis Comfort Tiffany was the only creator of true 'Tiffany' Lamps. He passed away back in 1933 at age 85. All others, including, but not limited to, Dale Tiffany, Paul Sahlin, Meyda Tiffany, and Robert Louis Tiffany, are imitations. They may be made in the same exact way, (as are our Tiffany style lamps) but are not original Louis Comfort Tiffany Lamps. The only true tiffany lamps are made by Tiffany Studios.
Tiffany is now used to describe a certain style of lamp. These are made with individual pieces of glass (sometimes stained, sometimes painted), wrapped with copper foil and soldered together.
The beauty of these lamps is incomparable. All of our Tiffany Style Lighting is made in the unique copper foil and solder technique used by Louis Comfort Tiffany. We always sell HIGH QUALITY merchandise, and never sell bad quality or plastic style lighting...you can tell just by the soldering. If plastic were to be soldered, it would melt.
In conclusion, when someone tries to tell you that their brand of Tiffany Lamps is the original, don't be tempted to pay a higher price for the same thing. True Tiffany Studio Lamps would cost many thousands up to $3,000,000. They may say things like, "Don't be fooled by low quality imitations"...but, with your new knowledge, you will know that almost all Tiffany style lighting is imitations of the originals by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
I hope I have passed some knowledge onto my fellow eBayers. In this day and age, we all need to feel confident in what we buy here. :)
