What are TiVoToGo transfers?
TiVoToGo transfers are a new TiVo service feature available to all networked TiVo Series2 DVRs. This service enhancement allows you to transfer programs from your TiVo box to your desktop or laptop PC so you can watch your favorite programs on that PC wherever you take it. Also, we've partnered with Sonic Solutions to offer DVD burning of these transferred shows. This will enable DVD burning of your favorite shows if you have a DVD burner on your PC. How can I get TiVoToGo transfer capability?
TiVoToGo transfers are available to anyone with a networked TiVo Series2 DVR. We will be automatically updating the TiVo service software on your TiVo box over the coming months to enable TiVoToGo features. There is no additional charge for this feature — this update to the TiVo service is included with your paid TiVo service subscription. To find out how to get the TiVoToGo software sooner, go here. To check and see if you have already received the software update, go here. You will need an updated version of the TiVo Desktop software to take advantage of the TiVoToGo enhancement. What are the TiVoToGo transfer minimum system requirements for my Windows PC?

    * A personal computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP
    * DirectX 9.0 or later (available here)
    * 233 megahertz processor
    * 128 MB RAM
    * 25 MB free disk space for TiVo Desktop installation
    * Enough free disk space for your transferred shows - at least 500MB


How long will it take to transfer shows from my TiVo box to my PC?
Transfer times will vary depending on two factors 1) the quality setting for the recording on the TiVo box and 2) the speed of your network connection. Transfer times may vary from several times faster than real time (with a fast network connection transferring Basic quality recordings) to much slower than real time (for example to transfer a Best quality recording over a slow network connection). Generally, TiVo recommends you allow as much time as possible to allow transfers to complete. Several shows can be set for transfer at one time. TiVo Desktop also provides an estimate of transfer time for each program.
