The Motorola V180 is a great starter phone and that's about it. I've used this phone for over a year and I've had it replaced 5 times and 2 new batteries direct from Motorola. Yes, FIVE times. The phone is great looking, sleek,  and has great compact flip phone size .  It's great as an entry level phone into a carrier or if you don't intend to use the phone for everyday use. All the functions work fine (there aren't any advance skills needed) and the reception is great, even while traveling.

Hello All...I'm writing this guide in hopes of helping those that are thinking of purchasing a Motorola V180 cell phone. The following is my experience after having used the phone for over a one year period. I don't work for a cell phone carrier nor do I work with any company that sells cell phones...I'm just an average phone user, talker, and texter.

The problems started after about 3 to 5 months of using the v180...the phone started to shut-off by itself...I'd finish using the phone, sit it on the bed, and next thing I know, the phone was off. I missed calls, voicemails, text messages, and didn't even know I was missing them until I decided to go through and individually check each of those categories.

The battery no longer kept its charge. I'd charge the phone overnight and by the end of the next day it would be dead. I'm not a talker but I am a texter, and a phone shouldn't die after only one day of being used. This also resulted in Motorola sending out two batteries on separate occasions free of charge.

I had problems receiving any notifications (such as the symbols) that appeared or supposed to appear on the phone, that are to notify if I had messages, missed calls, or anything else of that nature. So finally after having to replace the phone so many times, my carrier (Cingular) decided to upgrade all the Motorola V180 phones that me and my family were using and replaced them free of charge with new Nokia phones.

So based on the problems that I've had with this phone...it isn't worth the low price. If you have the extra money, I'd recommend you use it to purchase a phone that is a step above from the v180.

I hope this helps and gives a few of you a little insight.
