I've decided that purchasing Snowbabies on EBay must not be a good idea. I've used EBay on and off since 2002. I've had some great experiences and some very poor ones as well (like most of us I'm sure). BUT, I'm beginning to think there is something about the people who sell Snowbabies on EBay, that is not quite right. I have negative feedback from 2 people since 2002. Both are sellers of Snowbabies.
The first person was clearly unstable. She rattled me so bad, that I stayed away from EBay for a few years!!! She had advertised a beautiful, mint condition Snow Baby. Still in box, never used and kept in a smoke free home. When I received the item I thought there was a mix up. I was very nice in my email asking had she accidentally sent me the wrong item, as I had received a used Snowbaby. I wasn't upset I just asked her to send me the correct one and I would send the one I had received back to her. This started an onslaught of ridiculous emails from her and negative feedback accussing me of switching her Snowbaby, being the devil, a psycho, and all sorts of wonderful things. The Snowbaby I received from her was in a beat up box and the item was very yellowed. It had dark spots in areas and if you know much about Snowbabies you know that trying to clean them is not easy (with all the tiny little granules). I cleaned it best I could and kept it for myself rather than giving it as the Christmas present it was supposed to be.
It took me 4 years before I would purchase another Snowbaby on ebay. I've had almost the same situation. I won the auction on Dec.18th and paid for priority shipping (2-3 days). I had more than enough time to receive it by Christmas. However, I did not receive the Snowbaby, nor any response from the seller. When I did contact the seller, he did not get back to me right away. Eventually he emailed saying he had mistakenly marked the item as shipped but just found it in his storage room. He stated he would ship the item the next day the post office was open. He also stated he would ship it "next day air". On Dec 27th I contacted him to let him know I did not receive the item (It was to have been shipped next day air on Dec 26th). He followed up with an email stating "it's in the mail". At this point I'm more than disappointed. For starters, the item was a Christmas gift and Christmas is now passed. Also I paid for priority shipping but did not receive priority shipping. He offers nothing and only replies that it is in the mail! I suggest to him that he should at least refund my priority mail fees since that is not what happened. He emailed with a response that he would refund the entire purchase and I could keep the Snowbaby. I only expected the shipping fees to be refunded, but received NOTHING. I did however receive the snowbaby 12 days later than I was supposed to. The box was in good shape, and while it was not in nearly as poor condition as the 1st Snowbaby I purchased on EBay, it was far from clean. I never heard from him and never received the refund so finally when I left feedback for him (because you know EBay keeps telling you that you have feedback to leave) I left negative feedback and stated why I did. His follow up was that "nothing makes me happy" and I would not communicate with him. So I suppose me being the one to have to contact him each time doesn't count as communication! I'm not sure how he could say that "nothing makes me happy" when he doesn't know me and this is the first purchase I made from him. This is also a very inappropriate comment from a seller on EBay.
There isn't much you can do when things go wrong like this. Everyone has a different opinion on what is right and wrong these days. I treat people the way I expect to be treated. No matter if you're standing infront of me, on the telephone, or I'm conducting business with you over the internet. I own my own business and would be bankrupt if I behaved the way some sellers do on EBay. This is the first time I've written a review or guide on here. I'm not sure if people actually read these or not. I think I just needed an outlet for being so completely disappointed in these 2 sellers AND in EBay for allowing things to happen like this. I know it's difficult for them to "manage" everything, but negative feedback that is completely false should not be allowed to be left in your feedback section.
I'm not sure if I will purchase ANYTHING off of EBay again, but I can tell you I DEFINITELY will not be purchasing any Snowbabies and I highly suggest you think twice before doing so!
