Things To Keep In Mind When Buying Used Clothing

For many of us, buying new and/or name brand clothing is not an option. Then again there are those of us who belive in just being thrifty. But when buying used clothing either from Ebay or a thrift store there are things you need to pay attention to.

Let's start with Ebay since we are here already, and you have probably already contemplated buying that great shirt you saw in the store but refused to pay full price for.

When buying clothes on Ebay it is important to know if what you are buying is in good condition. What the seller may claim is good condition may not be the same as your defination once the item arrives on your doorstep. So seeing up close photos is important.

Make sure that there are not any defects, like rips or stains, that are not mentioned in the listing. Some sellers will blatently hide such defects in order for the item to be more markatable. And in the case that that happens, you are unlikely to get a refund of your money. The seller can claim that the defect was not present upon shipping, and then you are left with the hassle of filing a claim and PROVING that the seller had knowledge of the defect prior to you purchasing the item.

Also make sure that the item you are purchasing has been properly laundered before packaging. You don't know the seller or what germs may be lurking, so it is just a precautionary matter to keep from risking your health.

Allergies. Please make sure, if you have allergies, what type of environment the item has been stored in. Is the seller a smoker? Do they have pets? What type of detergent has been used to launder the item?

These are very basic questions and the seller should have no problem answering them honestly.

Another thing to keep in mind is that all clothing items run different in regards to sizing. Where you may wear a size 6 in one brand of jeans, you may be an 8 in another. So ask for measurements. It only takes a minute to measure a pair of pants.

If all else fails, and you are unsure of the item, err on the side of caution and keep looking. You'll find the right item, at the right price, sooner or later.
