OK, this is not for everyone. This is for fops, dandies, fashion plates and Sharp Dressed Men.  I offer you, with no further introduction needed,

TEN ITEMS TO LOOK MORE THAN JUST GOOD,

TEN ITEMS THAT  WILL GET YOU NOTICED,

TEN ITEMS THAT WILL MAKE PEOPLE TURN AND STARE,

TEN ITEMS THAT TOM WOLFE MIGHT EVEN APPROVE OF.

So, Number one has to be a white suit. Mr. Wolfe would be pleased to know that you can get a white linen suit on eBay for Not Very Much, though I think he recommends having several.  We certainly think one is a good start.

Next is a velvet blazer. Sure it's trendy, but we know the difference between fashion and STYLE.

How about a little more velvet in the form of a Covert coat with a Velvet Collar. If you find that too informal, maybe a herringbone Chesterfield instead?

Get out those evening slippers for your next special evening, or to make an ordinary one special.

Do you have some cowboy boots with two or more colors of leather?

You really do not expect me to  leave out the Cocktail Coat, do you?  Bright colors, traditional tailoring: conservative flash is not an oxymoron.

A vested suit, preferably in some shade of grey. I like mine light, since so many people want theirs to be dark. It's hard to choose between the white shirt and the pink one. I think the pink this time, don't you?

A Tweed suit- the idea of a SUIT that isn't appropriate for work, that  you can't wear the only place most people wear a suit at all is confusing to some people, but  isn't that what we  were trying to do? It's an excuse to go to the racetrack more often, as if we needed one.

A Big Old Cardigan. I like one with a shawl collar and leather buttons, because sometimes it is important to be warm and cozy.

And number ten has to be the Fancy Trousers. Maybe just a big Tartan Plaid, or maybe something outrageous in wool challis from the golden age of Chipp, or maybe some four panel  demonstrators (so called because they demonstrate the four colors the pants are available in) or maybe just white wool flannel. Whatever you choose, be sure you are ready to be as bright as they are. Does all of this sound a little staid for your taste? Maybe some suede jeans are more your style. Maybe some suede jeans are the style you need to add...

OK, I hope you are ready to go out there and Knock Them Dead.  Don't forget your special socks and your  je ne sais quoi!

Take a couple of aspirin before you go to bed, though, so you can look good again tomorrow morning.

Tata for now,

WT
