It seems no matter how much you try to get it across some folks cannot package neon signs. So here's a few tips the next time you win or sell the sign of your dreams. First off secure the tubing by placing soft foam under the tubes between the frame work and tube, next wrap the sign in bubble wrap. Now you will want to place the wrapped sign in a tight fitting box. Heres the real trick that protects your sign from nearly all types of impact damage, place this box inside another box thats three to four inches larger than the box the sign is actually in. the surround the smaller box with soft foam, packing pnuts, or bubble wrap. Be sure to mark the box on the outside fragile, and never use the post office to ship a sign unless you want it crushed. Even though you insure the sign, it can be argued it was not properly packed and the claim can be denied, so take the extra effort and pack it right, yes it adds about 5 bucks to your shipping so if you have to figure $25 for shipping, its worth it to the customer to do it right. I have shiped lots of neon and bought quite a few signs off of Ebay and only have had two broken that I received and none I have shipped. Of course the two that broke were both packaged with newspaper and stuck loosely in one box. I hope this will help you with your sign sales and purchases. Its wise to point out to the seller this is the way it needs to be packaged so it arrives in one piece.
