Although parents may find video games as just a toy, many children use video games in order to learn things. Certain games teach children teamwork, patence, and rules for sports. Games such as Madden and MVP Baseball can teach a child about an american past time, and games such as Final Fantasy 7 or Elder Scrolls III: Morowind can enhance a childs imagination.
Much like movies, however, children could also learn inappropriate things from playing the wrong type of game. There is a system in place to help insure the safty of your child. This is an rating system, there are four levels of games.
-
The first of which is Early Childhood, or EC. This category contains games such as Elmo's Letter Adventure. These games are designed to help children learn. Ebay contains a search that allows a user to see all of these games.
-
The next level in the rating is the E, or Everything rating. This category contains games that are ok for everybody, such as Mario and most Sports games. In this category there is a wide variation of games.
-
The third level of ratings is T for Teen. These games contain mild violence, mild language and other things such as that. Some games in this category are Tony Hawks Underground and X men Legends. The games in this category are directed towards more mature audiences.
-
The final level in the ranking system is M for Mature. These are the games for adults, they may contain harsh language, blood and gore, violence, and sexuality. Examples of games in this category are Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Combat, and Resident Evil.
On the back of these games it gives reason it is ranked that way.
This is a great way to find a game your child will love, while at the same time making sure it is appropriate for their age group.
