The eBay feedback system! Seller...
I have learned a bit about selling on ebay in a short period of time.

I will touch on the subject related to: eBays feedback system and sellers.

From the very first star I earned as an eBay member (after the little person with the halo) to getting almost to the BIG red one (1000 positives) I have come to alot of opinions on the fairness of the feedback system.

First I think the system is flawed and this is mostly related to the seller.

I as a seller have learned that if I sell an item to any member from 0 to 10,000 feedbacks, I DO NOT LEAVE FEEDBACK until the transaction is completely done. By this I mean that the item has been payed for, shipped, recived and the member is happy and 1st leaves me feedback. If everything is fine then I will leave feedback. I beleave this is fair due to the fact that no matter what, the buyer will in the end be happy.

How I do this -

As soon as I put the item in the mail, I send an email to the member stating that the package is on the way. Here is the template I use -

Dear John Doe

Just wanted to let you know that your item - 93/94 Ultra Fleer NHL All Star - Pat LaFontaine 4 of 18, 25001799822 was sent today. You should recieve it shortly. This e-mail confirms that your item is in the mail system at this present moment!

Please let me no when you received your item by leaving feedback and I will do the same for you.
If for what ever reason you are not happy then contact me. We always want to make sure all members are happy with all transactions.

The above little paragraph I feel in a way protects me from members jumping the gun and leaving me a negitive feedback for something that can have been easily fixed. At the same time leaves me in control of the whole selling process.
Sometimes selling to members with feedback scores of less then 10 can be a little scarry. New members tend to expect alot and sometimes even demand you give them feedback as soon as they pay, (like its there right) and as far as I know its not! If you as a seller holds off on the feedback till all the above has been completed at least you are in control.

My Bad eBay Feedback Experience -

At the time of writing this I only have one negitive feedback from a member who had control of me. (I left feedback 1st) WHAT A MISTAKE!

I sell many type of cards from my eBay store and in this case it was a complete set of hockey cards.

The person paid with a money order which was sent in a very timely fashion. I printed a invoice from the eBay system packed the cards and sent them. Well about ten days later the package was returned to me. Thinking I was in error until I opened the item and confirmed that the address on the invoice and label was indeed correct. I contacted the member and asked if the address he had listed with eBay was correct and the member said no. I informed the member that he would have to pay for shipping of the item the second time since he was in violation of eBays policy and not having the correct information when it came to his shipping address within the eBay system. Of course he refused and told me that it was my fault because his correct address was on the money order and I should have known that.
I contacted eBay asking for help and after much useless talk in a live chat was told it was best to just suck it up! Well I did and resent the item a second time costing me another $11.00 in shipping costs. Four days after sending the package I recived an email from the member stating that one card was missing, and he wanted it. Well I did not have the card in question and again was at a loss of what to do. Again I contacted eBay asking for help in this matter and again was basically told to suck it up! Well this was going on for over a month I decided to send the member an email offering him a full refund if he'd send the set back. The member refused and told me he wanted his card. I told him that I could not give him the card cause I did not have the card, and beleive me when I say I spent hours trying to find the card in question! I sent one more email explaining I did not have the card and was offering a full refund for the cards back. Well was I shocked when I logged in and saw my members rating was down to 99.9%! He left me a negitive feedback stating I refused to provide the complete set he payed for. Of course it was to late for me because I already left positive feedback for this clown!

It cost me around $70.00 to learn how the feedback system can work for you or against you. Since that time I have had a few problems but was always able to correct any issues with any of the transactions and not had another negitive feedback since.

I hope this has helped if so please vote yes. I will try to add to this and feedback is always welcome.

The above is just a guideline and as well as my opinion with some aspects of selling on eBay
