I'm not trying to buy my recipe back - honest!
If you didn’t go to eBay Live 2006 in Las Vegas this past June, you might not know about the 1st Edition eBay Community Cookbook that everyone received in their convention registration bags. It's a keeper!
For a few months before the convention, eBay posted threads on the discussion boards calling all eBay members and staff to submit their favorite recipes for this first one of a kind special gift for auction attendees. Many eBayers responded along with many of the eBay PINKS. The book also had guest submissions like Sonia Thomas the 2006 Grilled Cheese eating champion and the Chef from Mandalay Bay. Meg Whitman, Bill Cobb, and Griff all submitted recipes. Rob Chesnut didn’t write a recipe but instead wrote a page on Food Safety that is included in the book.
Having already been known for my rumballs with the eBay crowd, I of course did not hesitate at all in submitting my rumballs recipe for the book. It was accepted and was included in the book. I thought that was really cool, but things got even better when I received an email from the marketing firm hired by eBay to promote the eBay Live 2006 convention.
The email asked if I would give them permission to use my eBay ID – beachbadge on the artwork of the cover of the cookbook! Well of course I agreed! So now I have my recipe in the book and my user ID on the front of the book and repeated on some of the page dividers! What could be better? (So you see, having your personal preference set for accepting email and calls from eBay really can pay off!)
These Cookbooks make Great Gifts to eBayers & Non-eBayers!
At eBay Live it took just one look at the cookbook book and I knew that I needed more! I thought that these would be such a great Holiday Gift to give friends and family that my goal was to secure as many as I could over the next few months. I went on an ebay shopping spree and bid on almost every one of these cookbooks as they started to be listed after the convention was over.
At one point someone asked if I was trying to buy back my recipe one book at a time LOL!
I think I have enough of the books to cover this years gift that I need. At last count it was almost 30 books and some have already been passed on as gifts. I have made baskets up with the cookbook inside for a few retirements, a wedding, a new home, a couple of birthdays and of course Christmas coming up!
So far everyone I have given this book too loves it and loves the fact that “I’m published” in a cookbook and on the cover no less! You see I am better known for never having time to cook fancy meals and leaving 95% of the household cooking up to my husband to do. So by getting a cookbook with my name on the cover is one of the funniest things they have ever seen!
I would have loved to write a review for this great cookbook but it’s not on the list in books, so I thought I would honor it with this guide. I highly recommend if you love to cook or need a great gift for an eBayer start searching for one of these and you will enjoy it! Not only do these make great collectibles if you collect eBay-ana items but they really do have some great recipes inside that anyone can follow and make! Even me!
Go search and see if any are available – I don’t think I will be bidding on anymore but then you never know!
