ZebraNet II When I was looking for a way in adding networking to my
Zebra thermal printer my first thought was just grab any of the print servers I had laying around,
but then I read that the ZebraNet II external print server needs NO external power adapter.
It is powered by the 5v pin on the bulit in parallel port on the printer itself.
I also went to zebra web site and read the information on their web site.
Well I searched eBay and found one and bid on it (at a great discount as always on eBay.)
When it arived I went to zebra.com and look for setup information. I was easy to just power down the printer remove the
cable and attach the print server directly to the port. Then I powered the printer on after attaching the ethernet
cable. I waited a few seconds and then pushed the reset button on the print server. A few seconds latter out came
printed setup info that made setting up the computer to print to the server a breeze. I used a very simple
TCIP printer port (same as you would use with a HP JetDirect a unique IP address and port 9100) then tryed a test print and the printer
began printing a few seconds later. I was so inpressed I searched out two more ZebraNet's for my
other Zebera Thermal Printers. I would NERVER use anything but the real thing looking at the small
total cost buying three of the servers on the best place to buy anything EBAY they can't be beat.
Download the utiltys from zebra.com as well that make it easy to care for and change the settings for
your server. One thing to keep in mind the default user name is the standard "admin" but the password
is not admin or password by default it is "1 2 3 4." Good luck and happy networking.
I want to add that now many months after I wrote the above I now have all four of my Zebra printers running
with ZebraNet II. there is one more thing you will want to download the software from Zebra for the ZebraNet from zebra.com
and also download and read the PDF file (you will need acrobat reader) read the help files if you run into any
snags you can find the solution in this document or go back to the zebra web site and look at their help section.
It is true that some print servers lile the troy pocketpro will aslo work without the ac adapter I have found
the zebranet print servers to be relliable and easy to setup and use with very little network knowage needed.
I now use several more zebra printers with 10-12 going at all times on my network some have internal print servers
but many use external print servers they both fuction equaly well.
If you use thermal printers why not share one printer with the whole workgroup?
The cost savings will be amazing and so will the printers!
