What is the Golf World Village? Where is the Golf Hall of Fame? In this guide I will give you the background, history and a brief description of the Golf World Village and Golf Hall of Fame. 

What is it?

The Golf World Village is a destination vacation spot in St Augustine Florida. St. Augustine is America's oldest city,  established in 1565.  It is in Northeast Florida, on the Atlantic Ocean.  The PGA headquarters are located in Ponte Vedra Beach which is just 20 minutes northeast of the World Golf Village.   The World Golf Village is full of interesting things to do. It is a resort area and has fabulous dining and places to stay.   It is a 6300 acre golf resort and residential community.  It is the home to the Golf Hall of Fame. There are two par 72 championship golf courses, the King and Bear and the Slammer and Squire. There is a golf academy and a PGA Tour stop Retail Center.  Also located on the property is the 301 room World Golf Village Renaissance Resort, a 300 seat Imax Theater and a variety of residential neighborhoods.

PGA Tour Stop

The PGA Tour Stop is a golfers dream store.  It is a super store of golf and it a massive 31,000 square feet.  There is a club demo area with five driving stations so golfers can find the perfect club.  There is also a full size putting green centerpiece on the main floor complete with sand bunkers and water hazards.

The World Golf Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame was opened in 1998 and was originally developed to be an educational tool of the values taught by golf, honesty, integrity, sportsmanship and fun.  The exhibits are laid out like a golf course in 18 seperate areas.  The front nine focuses on the historical game complete. There is a putting surface that is similar to what it was like in the 1880's.  THe Back nine focuses on the modern game. There is a swing analyzer at hole 16 and a fast paced championship style green at hole 17.   In between the two nines is a great hall that honors the male and female Hall of Fame members. 

 PGA Tour Golf Academy

Located at the Golf Village is the ony teaching academy that has the name of the PGA TOUR.  They offer two to five day golf schools, private lessons and other programs for beginner, intermediate and advanced golfers.   The instruction is personalized to your needs and skill level.  Programs include video swing analysis, comprehensive instruction manual and a written game plan for improvement.

Golf Courses

King & Bear was designed by World Golf Hall of Fame members Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It is the first andn only course designed by BOTH of them together.  It is a 7279 yard course. Hall of Fame members Sam (The Slammer) Snead and Gene (The Squire) Sarazan served as consultants on the second course. It is a 6939 yard resort course with views of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

The World Golf Village is an excellent place to visit and a golfers dream vacation destination. If you have the opportunity to visit Florida, you must stop in and visit historic St. Augustine and the World Golf Village and Hall of Fame.
