My love for Southwestern jewelry started at a early age. I was lucky enough to become friends with a native american indian jewelry designer that taught me the history along with the value of certain stones.
One of the first pieces he made for me was a natural turquoise nugget necklace. When I first saw I was not impressed at all. The necklace was very dull and did not possess much color. He told me the more I wore the necklace the more the natural oils from my body would enhance these stones. Indeed the more I wore the necklace the more the colors of the turquoise were enhanced.
This was the start of a passion that has continued throughout my life.
Years ago I was exposed to the designer Jay King. His designs encompass my estate pieces of the Southwest along with many pieces with a modern flair.
Jay King uses traditional Southwest stones he has also introduced a vast array of new stones never seen before. Mr King as an artistic eye for picking new stone varieties that absolutely take your breath away.
His black opal beads he uses in designs are outstanding. Far away they might look like onyx to some people but as you get closer you see the fire flecks of opals in these stunning black stones.
The peppermint opal stone is another winner! With the contrasting color of white to a burgendy with black matrix makes this another stellar stone.
The rutilated quartz is an absolute show stopper. I love to wear the pendant necklace and matching earrings with a black dress. People stop me on the street asking me what kind of stone this is.
The wonderful aspect of these pieces are no two are alike! The variances of stones ensure your piece with be unique on to you.
