This is only my opinion on observing the Bargianland auctions and making a few purchases.
Types of items sold by Bargainland: Lost New Packages, Lost RMA Packages, Damaged Packages, Undeliverable/Returnable Packages, New or RMA Packages where the Labels were torn from boxes making them undeliverable/returnable.
Bargainland Liquidation is one of the largest sellers on eBay. They sell just about everything you can imagine. Most of the items they sell are from freight carriers, UPS, FedEx and DHL. A large portion of the items are lost and damaged packages that an insurance claim was filed on. If you ship an item and it is insured through a carrier, it gets damaged or lost in shipping the carrier has to pay for it and the carrier is now the owner of that item. A lot of lost items are eventually found and are sometimes to late to be sent because a lost claim was paid. To help curve the costs of insurance claims for damaged and lost items the carrier sells them off. Before Bargainland and the internet came along there where nation wide live auctions that you could purchase these same type of items from. The US Postal Service still has Live Auctions and Lost Baggage from Airlines are almost treated the same way but the items are primarily sold through a store in Northern Georgia. I would imagine items that Bargainland sells are being sold on consignment from the carriers. That would explain why Bargainland does not care much what the description is or how the item is photographed. I am sure that they are on a low commision rate. It would also explain why items are never received by Bargainland customers that appear to have been sold to cheaply and the carrier (consigner) requests that it be re-sold again.
There are a large number of items that are returns from customers (RMA) that never make it back to the manufacturer or original distributor and end up with the carrier. These items are generally broken and under warranty so the consumer is returning it for a replacement or refund. The item usually in it's original packaged or just put in a box. I would guess that about 20% of the items that Bargainland sells are actually RMA returns and not "new". That is why a lot of items appear to be new but are not when the new purchaser of that item receives it from Bargainland. One of the things that gets me is that this is never stated in any Bargainland Auction.
One Example:
I recently purchased a large wooden propeller that stated in the description from Bargainland that there was a piece of wood missing. When I received the item it was in the original manufacturer’s box that was almost destroyed. There was indeed a broken piece of wood on the propeller. There was a UPS sticker on the outside of the box that said "Photo Required Incident" and was dated. This was clearly a damaged item from UPS that an insurance claim was filed on and UPS became the owners of the propeller. Another interesting note on the shipping label is that the freight cost was being billed to a 3rd party account and not to Bargainland. My guess is that UPS got the money for the propeller and shipping. UPS ships it to me at there cost and Bargainland gets a percentage of the total sale. That would also explain why Bargainland uses various carriers and cannot say which one will deliver your item until it is shipped.
