In my years of collecting, I have acquired many items that are metaphysically affected by energies, elementals and deceased human and animal souls. I wanted to write this guide to share my knowledge on this subject, and to clear up some myths that seem to be circulating on Ebay in regard to haunted jewelery.
The first thing that I know for a fact, is that jewelry tends to become "haunted" much less frequently than other items. Items that tend to be truly haunted are usually dolls, occult and religious objects, items used in sacred ritual use, and figures. The reason why dolls and figures are so frequently haunted are because they mimic the shape of the human form, and spirit energy is attracted to these forms. Jewelry, on the other hand, tends to be of little interest to spirits-especially jewelry that is new and from our modern times. Jewelry that is commercially reproduced does not have the history behind it to have accumulated the vast amount of energy needed for a true haunting to occur, and it is unlikely that spirits all over the astral level are eager to embed themselves into rings being sold at your local jewelry store!
The reason for this is simple. Metals and stones do have the ability to pick up energies and psychic impressions of their former owners, but this is completely different from what you think of when you think "haunted". For example, an authentic psychic may ask for a piece of jewelry that you have worn for a long time in order to help her with the reading. She will hold the jewelery, and through the process known as psychometry, will be able to pick up energetic impressions that have been left in the jewelery as a result of your wearing it. This does not mean that the ring is haunted, of course. Metals and stones have a tendency to pick up energy from their owners....but EVERYTHING around you is constantly picking up psychic impressions from the environment around it. It is only when these impressions are extremely strong and powerful (through either a traumatic or dramatic event) that a piece of jewelery might become truly haunted. It is the same with haunted places. Places become haunted when a tremendous amount of spiritual energy has been imprinted on the place. It is the same with jewelry.
Here are some points that I would like to share with you. These may be helpful to keep in mind when deciding what piece of haunted jewelry you might want to add to your collection.
Haunted Jewelry Items Are Not A Dime A Dozen! Think about how many truly haunted houses there are in the average neighborhood. That is about how many pieces of haunted jewelry there are too. Haunted items in general are SCARCE, but jewelry is even more rare. I have been collecting for over 30 years, and it has taken me that long to amass approximately 150 genuinely haunted items of jewelry. You will see me list a piece of affected jewelry perhaps once every other auction round-if that. So, the tip in this is to be wary of anyone who seems to have a limitless supply of haunted and Djinn cast rings. Which leads me to the subject of Djinns in jewelry....
Djinns Are Incredibly Rare! I have been collecting since my early teens, and have only SEVEN true Djinn/Genie items in my collection. For some reason, Djinn affected items are very popular on Ebay right now. I believe it is absolutely impossible that there are this many Djinn affected items in the world right now. First of all, true genie binders are extremely hard to find. It is very rare to find one in the United States, as they have their origins in Turkey, India, Morocco and Persia. Not only this, but they are extremely secretive and their methods of conjuring are heavily guarded. I have had the great blessing of meeting two genie binders while I was traveling through India. First of all, they do not refer to themselves as "djinn binders" or "genie binders". They have other names for what they do, but in our language it would be known as genie binding. I am 95% certain that these people do not even know how to use the Internet, nevermind Ebay! :) When deciding on authentic Djinn jewelry items, look for older items that have their origins in the above mentioned places. I can promise you that true Djinn are not attracted to or interested in taking up residence in your local jewelry store.
Google Is Your Friend: I am still collecting paranormal items, and I do a lot of research before deciding which items are authentic. Use Google to do some research on the background of haunted or Djinn affected jewelry before you buy. Is the ring ruby red with a dragon on the band? Go to Google and type in: "ruby ring with dragon band" or something similar and see if you can find it. If you find the same ring being sold by an online jewelry wholesaler, you can pretty much bet that the seller is not legit. It also doesn't hurt to look up the names and places that the seller is claiming the ring came from. If the necklace is claimed to come from the Amazonian Jungle but it is really from China, then perhaps the item is questionable. It can also help to get familiar with being able to distinguish a true antique item from something that is made to look antique. Most metals can be oxidized to give them an "aged" effect, when indeed they could have been made last week.
Don't Fall For Phony Photos: It's easy to shine a light on a photo and make it look mysterious. It is also easy to shake something back and forth in front of the camera to make it look blurry, double visioned, and mysterious. I never buy anything from sellers who use this tactic. If only spirits were as cooperative as to show themselves so easily when you want to take photos of them! I promise you, they are NEVER that cooperative! :)With jewelry, spirits can sometimes embed their impressions visually into the objects, but these impressions can be seen with the naked eye, so no camera tricks are necessary. I always recommend experimenting with the camera yourself so that you will be able to spot a phony photo right from the thumbnail.
Be picky: Get picky. It's the only way that you will end up with an authentic collection and not lose tons of money in the process. Understand the rarity of metaphysical objects, do your research, ask lots of questions....and most importantly...use your own intuition!
Happy hunting!
