Hi Everyone!

My name is Daniel Craven.  I'm writing this guide so that you can be aware of some things about the highly marketed and publicized Total Transformation Program, by James Lehman.  Like Mr. Lehman (whose efforts I respect, but whose teachings I have some differences with), I have many years of experience as a child and teen behavioral therapist.  I not only saw kids and their parents in an office setting, but went to their homes, schools...even stores and fast food restaurants, when they were having trouble in those places.  I was on-call 24-7-365 for crises, as well as having scheduled sessions.  So...when I began to hear radio commercials promising a change in the attitude of a child "in one minute or less," of course I was disappointed and frustrated that some people might actually BELIEVE that.  It's good marketing, but hardly true...and the "One Minute Transformation" is actually a few short tips that are parts of the program, without the full explanations of how to use them...and nothing especially clever or exciting that you wouldn't find elsewhere.

I have reviewed The Total Transformation Program and find it to be about half-correct...meaning that I would recommend about half of what it suggests to parents.  Will it be helpful to some parents?  Yes.  But I don't believe that doing something "half right," or making half of all of the progress that you COULD make is really what parents expect for their money and the time that it takes to learn and implement the program.

The parts that I don't agree with were part of what led me to increase the timeframe of offering my own parenting style, Honest Parenting, which I KNOW works...because is has worked with thousands of families.  Now, I've refined Honest Parenting, especially after parenting 3 kids, myself.  So, it has been improved over the years, and has proven to be most effective in not only STOPPING defiance, talking back, lying, disrespectful behaviors, cursing, destructive and hurtful behavior, etc., but goes a step further and TEACHES NEW BEHAVIORS that the child or teen can use.  What I mean is that they will still have anger and frustration, and they need APPROPRIATE behaviors and words to use in order to express their feelings...otherwise, they revert back to the old ones.  Honest Parenting is not only effective with Oppositional and Defiant kids (ODD), but is also effective in working with children who have been diagnosed with ADD and ADHD, as I can help you to teach your child to focus and to stay on tasks until they are completed.

So, I'm not just writing this guide to change your mind and get you to use Honest Parenting.  I truly do enjoy helping families to have better relationships, less stress, and to see kids grow up to be healthy, happy, and productive.  Also, I believe that every child who grows up to be an emotionally healthy, responsible, productive adult, with the ability to solve problems appropriately, will contribute to our society and our world...and THAT is our reward! 

I also wrote this guide because I realize that not all of you have $200 or $300 to spend on a "program" that some parents say is complicated and difficult to use (and one that I don't completely believe is the best answer to behavioral and emotional problems).  And, it has come to my attention that the support that is offered through the Total Transformation infomercial and radio ads is not available unless you buy the program directly from Legacy Parenting, which is the company that sells The Total Transformation.  So...if you DO choose to buy it, please be sure that you know what you're paying for and what you will (and will NOT) receive.  Just so that you know, I offer email and phone support, which every parent, teacher, or childcare worker who uses Honest Parenting is eligible for.
