THE TOP 10 "POUND FOR POUND" FIGHTERS IN ALL DISCIPLINES

THIS LIST TAKES TIME, EFFORT AND IS ALWAYS UP-TO-DATE.  IF THIS WAS HELPFUL OR JUST AN INTERESTING READ...LET US KNOW BY CLICKING "YES" AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.  THANKS

BOXING 11-19-2009

  1. MANNY PACQUIAO - No fight scheduled. Last fight defeated Miguel Cotto1 via 2nd rd. KO.

  2. FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR. - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated JMM via UD on Sept. 19, 2009.  After a 21 month lay off, "Money" thoroughly outboxed Marquez in all 12 rounds.  Size, height, speed, reach all played a key factor.  JMM could do nothing....his long time trainer, Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain, told him before the final round to "finish with dignity"...that pretty much says it all.

  3. JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ - No fight scheduled.  Last fight lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Sept. 19, 2009 via unanimous decision.   I guess the urine drinking didn't help.

  4. BERNARD HOPKINS - Moving up to cruiserweight.  No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Kelly Pavlik via unanimous decision

  5. SHANE MOSELY - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Antonio Margarito via 9th rd. TKO.  Called out Floyd Mayweather Jr. at his comeback fight.

  6. ISRAEL VAZQUEZ - No fight scheduled. Not cleared to fight.  Detached retina in Vazquez v Marquez 3.  Last fight defeated Rafael Marquez via split decision.

  7. RAFAEL MARQUEZ - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Jose Francisco Mendoza via 3rd rd. TKO.

  8. NONITO DONAIRE - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Rafael Concepcion via UD on Aug. 15, 2009 Las Vegas.

  9. MIGUEL ANGEL COTTO - No fight scheduled. Last fight lost to #1 via 12 rd TKO.

  10. CELESTINO CABALLERO - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Steve Molitor via 4th rd. KO. Wants Juan Manuel Lopez in Puerto Rico...not suprising....Celestino likes to go to each opponents respective country to beat them thoroughly.

MMA MEN 09-19-2009

  1. ANDERSON SILVA - No fight scheduled/Last fight defeated Forrest Griffin via 1st rd ANNIHILATION(KO) Aug.08, 2009 The Griffin fight was comical at best.  Silva is back to his devastating striker style.  Forrest went down 3 times...Silva letting him up 2 times, Spider actually shook his hand after the second knock down...it seemed like a gesture to apologize for not engaging him in his guard...then  he finished him off with a 1/2 hook.  Forrest looked like he got bitch slapped for the final KO punch. lol...which prooves how powerful Anderson Silva's striking really is, and therefore the true undisputed P4P #1 fighter on the planet.  HE MAKES STUD FIGHTERS LOOK LIKE NOVICES!

  2. GEORGES ST. PIERRE - No fight scheduled/Last fight defeated Thiago Alves via unanimous decision Aug.08, 2009.  GSP controlled the entire fight, accept for ONE dominant position in the later rounds by Alves...Thiago actually got a few power punches in GSP's guard...if he only did that in every round...if only?

  3. B.J. PENN - Next fight Diego Sanchez Date: TBD/Last fight defeated Kenny Florian via 4th rd. submission(rear naked choke).  BJ showed what a thinking MMA fighter can accomplish.  He took his time, attacked when he had the opportunity...didn't try to finish him in every flurry...and used his superior ground game to finish off a game K Flo.  Kenny tried doing the GSP tactic, of pushing BJ against the fence to wear his shoulders out in order to stop his boxing attack...it seemed to frustrate BJ, but he remained composed and finished him off.  The Master Lives!!!

  4. LYOTO MACHIDA - A counter puncher in MMA?...YES!  No fight scheduled. Last fight defeated Mauricio Rua via UD.  Lyoto won a close fight. Many felt Rua won via more strikes.

  5. QUINTON JACKSON - The King of Hype.  Worth watching everytime.  Next fight Rashad Evans date TBD as Rampage is shooting a movie and will not fight in Memphis as previously reported on Dec. 12, 2009/Last fight defeated Keith Jardine via unanimous decision.  Ramage is a coach in The Ultimate Fighter house against #10(see below).  Rampage makes this show a comedic sitcom...he should be have his own show, seriously, he's that funny.

  6. DAN HENDERSON - A born fighter.  If Hendo wasn't an mixed martial artist...could you imagine?  No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Michael Bisping via 2nd rd. KO.  Knocked The Count OUT!  Then hammer fisted his jaw on the ground for good measure.

  7. FEDOR EMELIANENKO - Fedor should have stepped up and turn his back on M-1 Global and said, "I want to fight the best fighters in the world...I'm going to the UFC!".  Until he grows some balls, he can't be p4p the best.  He needs to fight to proove it!  The UFC offered him reportedly $30 million for a 6 fight deal...he or M-1 Global wanted more plus 50% of the promotor purse!   No fight scheduled. Last fight defeated Brett Rogers via 2nd rd. KO.

  8. MIKE THOMAS BROWN - Spencer Fisher + Matt Hughes + Jens Pulver = MTB.  No fight scheduled/Last fight defeated Urijah Faber via unanimous decision.  Faber reportedly broke his hand in the 2nd round and couldn't mount any kind of striking attacks.

  9. RASHAD EVANS - Needs to work on defense(see #4 above).  Next fight...See #7 above/Last fight lost to Lyoto Machida via 2nd rd. KO.  He will be in The Ultimate Fighter as a coach against Rampage.

  10.  BRIAN BOWLES - Knocked off the previously undefeated Miguel Torres...yes, he "killed the master" a la K Flo/No scheduled fight /Last fight defeated Miguel Torres via 1st rd KO.

MMA WOMEN 9-19-2009

  1. MEGUMI "MEGA MEGU" FUJII - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Saori Ishioka via 2nd rd. submission.

  2. CRISTIANE "CYBORG" SANTOS - No fight scheduled/Last fight defeated Gina Carano via 1st rd. TKO.  Cyborg totally dominated "Conviction" with power punches and relentless attacks from the stand up.  She also sunk a heel hook which was defended.  At times appearing sloppy because of the awkward, random strikes by Carano.  She maintained her composure throughout the fight and finished it with a barage of punches from a dominant position.  The referee stepped in at 1/2 second before the bell ended the 1st round.  A replay was needed to confirm the stoppage, but IMO, Carano was finished and would have folded early in the second or not come out for the opening bell.

  3. GINA "CONVICTION" CARANO - No fight scheduled/Last fight lost to Cris Cyborg via 1st rd. TKO.  Carano was handily beaten by a well conditioned Cyborg.  She appeared to lose her will after nearly every strike attempt by Cyborg kept finding their target(her face).  Her counter attacks were not effective, only deterring Cyborg once, causing her(Cris) to "step back" and smile...then she finished Carano by strikes.  Conviction seemed to have winded early, maybe absorbing the strikes and depleting her adrenaline stores or possibly improper rehydration.  Either way, the Chute Boxe Brazilian fighter came to the fight in amazing condition and would have easily lasted at least 3 more rounds.  It was only a matter of time for Carano.  She may have over trained.

  4. YUKI TSUJI - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Kate Martinez via 1st rd. submission

  5. TARA LAROSA - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Sally Krumdiak via 3rd rd. submission.

  6. SARAH KAUFMAN - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Shayna Baszler via unanimous decision.

  7. ANA MICHELLE TAVARES - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Lisa Ward via unanimous decision.

  8. ROSI SEXTON - No fight scheduled.  Last fight defeated Val Coolbaugh via 1st rd. submission.

  9. KELLY KOBOLD - No fight scheduled.  Last fight lost to Gina Carano via unanimous decision.

  10. SATAKO SHINASHI - No fight scheduled.  last fight defeated Yukiko Seki via 1st rd. submission.
