The army life may be a very tough one, but it is this toughness in army life and army men that it intriguing to all, mostly women.
To cope up with the tough schedules and regimen, army clothes are designed accordingly, there is nothing cool about it. Just like the army men, the army style clothes too are symbolic of rough and tough, masculinity, strength and character and just about any attribute you would like to lend the masculine gender. How then, could the designers not be inspired by it? The 2009-2010 fashion scenarios are sprinkled with the essence of army look.
Army Look and Men’s Style:
Many designers like Gareth Pugh and Alexander McQueen and couture houses like Burberry and Dolce & Gabbana have introduced army inspired lines this fashion season in men’s style.
Gareth Pugh’s overcoat designs reflect the German officer’s styling of Second World War complete with metal chain mail. Burberry has introduced tailored coats and two-tone pea coats with designs inspired by the uniforms of French Naval Officers. Dolce & Gabbana’s patterned musketeer jackets have the detailing of the band uniforms.
One of the most commonly used military style garment is the simple white tank top. It is undoubtedly one of the simplest yet versatile pieces of garment. Made from pure breathable cotton, simple white tank tops drapes itself according to the curves of the body and though being fit to shape, is extremely comfortable. Physically fit men can display their prowess from behind these tank tops while the others can mingle with other garments like military style jackets and look equally stunning.
This style suits informal parties or as casual wear and accessorizing it correctly with dog-tags or stainless steel jewelry can make you look like a fashion icon. You can also get simple white tanks, waistcoats and cargo shorts that have rich military style embroidery in vibrant colors like terracotta, chocolate and ochre.
The other commonly used army styles in men’s clothing are the camouflage shorts, shirts, jackets and trousers. Camouflage prints come in four basic color combinations - Advantage Timber, Real-tree Hardwoods, Mossy Oak Break Up, and Stick Camo.
The advantage timber has the highest number of colors (gray, green, yellow, and rust) used when compared to other patterns and the prints are in the form of leaves and branches. The real-tree hardwoods in shades of gray and taupe with trunk and branch designs has a winters feeling. Mossy oak breakup, the most commonly used in civilian camouflage dressing has leaves of tan and deep green combination. The red-orange background stick camo has patterns of sticks in black all over it.
Most army style outfits like white tank tops or camouflage trousers & shirts are available at extremely affordable prices and can be mixed and matched with any ensemble. Though the army style is currently “in fashion”, these garments are never out of fashion and can be worn just about any time.
Army Style and Men’s Accessories:
The identification chains worn by army or military personnel are commonly referred to as dog tags. Designers are using this style to promoted men’s accessories amongst the civilians. Dog tags are now normally worn by men to express a personal style and some even have it customized. The best part of the dog-tag accessory is it is normally made from lightweight material and is quite affordable as it is frequented by teenagers and adults alike. It suits just about any garment in your wardrobe – casual or formal.
