To All Serious Guide and Review Authors:

Don't Let Negative Votes Get You Down -

I know how discouraging it seems to receive Not Helpful Votes on one's Carefully Written Guides and Reviews, but we should not be upset nor discouraged.  Consider the negative voter's possible motivation:

1. Revenge / Retaliation

2. Envy

3. To Gain Ranking in Reviews and Guides

4. Maliciousness

5. The Guide or Review is not useful or helpful to the voter

There are numerous reasons why someone chooses to vote Not Helpful.  Unfortunately, the reason may not be very nice, nor kind, nor based on reality - but everyone has the right to vote any way he or she wants.

Since it is possible that huge numbers of votes are not based on reality, but rather based on maliciousness or revenge or competition - we should not take these negative votes so seriously.  Instead - we should focus on the great number of ebayers who have been helped and those who are actually looking at/reading our Guides and Reviews, for example:

Guide viewed: 93999 times

At any time - we can stop counting the not helpful votes.  Perhaps this will make us all feel better.  

Writers:  Don't be discouraged or upset by not helpful votes.
