The Quintessential John Cusack Movie Guide.

Before I met my wife, I knew little of the actor known as John Cusack. Since that time we have collected every movie that stars or has John in a cameo role (with the exception of Grandview USA). This is my top 5 Cusack Movie list, broken down by decade followed by cameo roles and skips. You may not agree but here we go.

John Cusack the 80's:

1) Say Anything (1989) The quintessential Cusack Movie.

2) Better Off Dead (1985) A very funny movie.

3) Eight Men Out (1988) John's best "historical" role.

4) The Sure Thing (1985) Is a sure thing.

5) Fat Man and Little Boy (1989) Breakout dramatic role.

John Cusack the 90's:

1) Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) Hitman High School Reunion (nuff said).

2) True Colors (1991) Lawyers, Friends, Betrayal.

3) Being John Malkovich (1999) Um, just watch it, too hard to sum up.

4) City Hall (1996) Drama with a hint of humor.

5) Pushing Tin (1999) Billy Bob, Angelina Jolie, what more do you want?

John Cusack the 00's (so far):

1) High Fidelity (2000) My favorite John comedy!

2) America's Sweethearts (2001) Harmless fun with America's most loved acting couple.

3) Runaway Jury (2003) John, Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman what more do you want?

4) Serendipity (2001) Say Anything with a twist for the 00's.

5) Must Love Dogs (2005) Only because my wife loves it.

John Cusack Cameos:

1) Hell Cab AKA Chicago Cab (1998) Read my Review.

2) Bob Roberts (1992) Great Tim Robbins vehicle.

3) Elvis Stories (1989) Read my Review.

4) Stand By Me (1986) Great Stephen King Movie.

5) Sixteen Candles (1984) A quintessential 80's Movie.

John Cusack SKIP Movies:

1) The Road to Wellville (1994) Bowel Movements and sex, yawn!

2) Shadows and Fog (1992) Read my Review.

3) Hot Pursuit (1987) Boring, Cheap, Say Anything/ Sure Thing.

4) Max (2002) Read my Review.

5) Identity (2003) Overused premise with no added excitement.

MY guilty pleasures:

1) One Crazy Summer (1986) Audio commentary with Curtis Armstrong and Bobcat Goldthwait is priceless.

2) Tapeheads (1988) Lame 80's and loving it.

3) The Ice harvest (2005) That was unpleasant. I think I scraped my tummy.

4) Con Air (1997) Blockbuster with no plot but great stars and lines none the less.

5) Money for Nothing (1993) I just like it.
