The new PlayStation 3 controller features many different features from the original PS2 controler.  First of all it features motion sensing technology.  Basically when you move the controller your character in the game actually moves accordingly.  It has 3 dimensions that you can move to give you the 3D full effect.  You can move it side to side(X), you can move it up and down(Y) and you can move it forward and backward(Z).  Giving you the full 3 dimension effect, the X, Y and Z dimensions.

Sorry no boomerang design, as thought at E3 2005.  The controller remains with the same DuelShock design, with larger L2 and R2 buttons for more precision.  It can also be wirelessly played or played wired with a USB cable connected to the Console, just like the XBOX 360.  Also when wired to the console, the controller automatically charges just like Microsoft's console.  The controler is also lighter than previous controlers.  Sony also broadened the tilting angle of the analog joy sticks to enable more delicate and more dynamic manipulation.

THE GOODS:  The good part about this is you can use actual movement to reflect your game play.  This gives you a more realistic control when driving cars, flying planes, or other related movements.  This will be good in FPS because you can jerk the controler down and you can duck out of gun fire, you can jerk the controler up and you can jump, or side to side to dodge out of the way of punches in games like Fight Night.  Also gives exercise to those of us who don't exercise enough.

THE NEUTRALS:  Not so sure how fast or hard you have to jerk the controller to get the desired outcome out of the controller, so can't prejudge on ease of controls.  The design is the same, which is good and bad.  It is bad because they have no originality and don't design something creative.  But they were very very conservative when designing it because the DuelShock controller is the most popular design for video game controllers currently.  They could have atleast enlarged the controller for the adult gamers.

THE BADS:  However there are some negative points to this too, one of the larger things is that because it has sensors in it, you will no longer be able to have vibration.  The viberation will just screw up the sensors.  After a while this might get to be "a hassle" to do.  When laying on the couch, it would be more difficult to move around the controller, especially under blankets.  Also if you sneeze or do some other necessary but unavoidable movement, you will preform an undesired control on the game.  The XYZ axix control idea is also a steal of the Nintendo Wii's idea, and the wireless becoming a wired controller idea was stollen from Microsoft.  Also after hours of gaming, your naturally going to become fatigued so moving the controller would then become tiresome.

Overall good idea, but until technology further progresses the controller cannot become the "perfect controller"
