The "Original Lava Brand Motion Lamp" to many, is an American icon. This lamp has thrived for nearly half a century with strong support from its customers. Until today, that is. Unfortunately these lamps have undergone a huge over-hull in their formula due to Haggerty Enterprises outsourcing to China. Since around the year 2003 Haggerty Enterprises have been producing their lamps in China, thus trying to compete with the prices of other "knock-off" lamps that are also, ironically, made in China. To many of us collectors with inside information, have found many flaws with these new lamps. (1) Many are shipped cloudy. (2) All of the lamps have a flow issue along with over heating way too soon. (2) Use poor quality glass (3) Liquid clarity is not as clear as that once seen. So, do not be blind to its common placed appearance and the name of the lamp, for these lamps being produced today are mear knock-offs of the real "Original Lava Brand Motion Lamp". The original and always will be, The Lava Lite and is known by this by the Lava Lite name printed on the bottle cap. Ask the sellers if it says Lava Lite or has a sticker, because if it has a sticker, it will be a China outsourced lamp.

I have aquired various emails of the president of Haggerty Enterprises saying that the lamps are higher quality than the earlier year. This is absolutely not true. If it was, the collectors would not be in such of an uproar as they are about these new China made lamps. Pictured above is a China Made lamp. If one would show this picture to someone that has been around to see a Lava Lite lamp, they would say that the flow is very different. If you like just balls of goo floating around for a short time and then collecting at the top and making a massive ball of goo that does nothing, buy a China made lamp. If you like the sleek, never ending smooth motion of an Original Lava Lite, buy the American made vintage lamps that were made before 2003. Haggerty Enterprises needs to know that we collectors are not giving up or right to speak up about this nonsense the call and "Original" lava lamp when it is far from it. Don't let the American icon die! Life is too short to let the art of the lava lamp be just another memory.
